Independent Foreign Fiction Prize 2011

I have now put up some brief thoughts on eahc of the short listed books. I have also read a few others from the long list. I do think this is a strong short list; there wasn’t one book where I said, ‘what’s that doing on theĀ  list?’. So from that I’m not undly keen on any particular one to be the winner. Part of me hopes that it will be a new name – Petterson and Pamuk have won it before. I won’t rank the six but just say that each is worth reading as are probably all on the long list.

I might write a review of ‘A Visit from the Goon Squad’ which I finished yesterday but really I think a trip back to the 19th century literature world might be fun. So too will be some reading of world history.

I’m interested in what anyone has thought of this IFFP short list and if like me you enjoyed them too.
